Do you serve your chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes? Is it just me, or is it a Midwestern thing?

Re: Curious
I love chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes. I don't know where I got this idea, maybe by accident, but I've been in Iowa my whole life so it could be regional. Interesting!

Re: Curious
Sounds like a Hamburg, Iowa thing.
I've often had "chicken and noodles" (kind of like chicken noodle soup with very little broth) on mashed potatoes.

Re: Curious
Yes! It must be a hybrid of the chicken & noodles I grew up eating. :)

Re: Curious
It would be a little like chicken and dumplings? Whatever it is, it certainly sounds German.

Re: Curious
Well, my Mom is of German descent and she says that this is the way her (German) grandmother made chicken and noodles. I think it's so interesting to see how things like this travel down through the generations.

Re: Curious
No dumplings, though. Althought the potatoes do give a creamier texture to the broth, sort of like what dumplings do.
